OC Blues FC Bringing a Taste of the World Cup to Orange County

OC Blues FC is proud to be a part of an amazing celebration with the Spirit of Football.  Together we will bring a little taste of the 2014 Brazil World Cup to Southern California.
Spirit of Football CIC is a not–for–profit community interest company dedicated to promoting a very special ball as the “star of the beautiful game” in the run–up to each World Cup. They call it The Ball.

The Ball is the equivalence of the Olympic torch and is the most important element of the initiative and the narrative spine that supports the activities that surround it. The game began on January 9th, 2014 when The Ball started its journey from London to Brazil.

After 7,000 miles, 17 school workshops, 14 visits to top European soccer clubs, 1,250 signatures and 30 days on the road, soccer’s Olympic Torch has arrived in the United States en route to the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Superstars of the world game, like Lucas Leiva at Liverpool FC, Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus at Borussia Dortmund, Italian international Alberto Gilardino at Genoa CFC, and the FC Barcelona superstars have all signed it. So too have homeless street soccer players and hundreds of socially disadvantaged school children across Europe.

Now it is your turn to touch and sign the ball before it travels to Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and to its final destination, Brazil.

Join  Orange County Blues Football Club on February 28th, 2014 to take part in this amazing event and the journey of The Ball to Brazil. More details on the event will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, enjoy this recap of The Ball at Camp Nou  with FC Barcelona.
