Orange County Native William Prado signs with OC Blues FC

IRVINE, Calif.- Orange County Blues FC has officially signed midfielder William Prado, better known by his nickname, “Paco.” An Orange County native, Prado spent his first professional season in 2013 with Charlotte Eagles, appearing in 12 matches, making his debut on April 13th in a match against Antigua Barracuda FC.

After graduating from Anaheim’s Loara High School, Prado played soccer for two years at Long Beach City College before transferring to Concordia University in Irvine, where he was a 2011 and 2012 All-Golden State Athletic Conference First Team selection.

Prado is ecstatic to be back near his hometown, and ready to get the season started: “I love it. People say it’s a dream come true to just play professional, but it’s a bigger dream to play professional in your hometown. Orange County has the best weather and is just plain beautiful, I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else. Hopefully I can continue playing here for many more years to come.”

Head Coach Daryuosh Yazdani is excited to bring Prado back to Orange County: “A player’s attitude is very important to me, and I immediately recognized him as a disciplined player who has a good vision, and someone who will help us in attack this season.”

With the addition of Prado, the OC Blues FC official roster now stands at 10 players. Chris Cortez, Jimmy Turner, Gabi Gonzalez, and Gibson Bardsley have been signed or re-signed in the past few weeks. Allan Russell, Ryan O’Leary, Mohammed Roknipour, Mohammad Mohammadi, and Mehrshad Momeni are all returning for 2014. More playing signings will be announced very soon.

OC Blues FC’s first home match at Anteater Stadium at UCI is set for Saturday, April 5th, as the Blues welcome expansion franchise OKC Energy FC. The Blues 2014 season begins on Saturday, March 22nd at StubHub Center in Carson, for a match against the newly formed LA Galaxy II.
