OC Blues FC Sign Stephen Okai and Andrew Hoxie

IRVINE, Ca- Orange County Blues are proud to announce the signings of USL PRO veterans Stephen Okai and Andrew Hoxie.

Andrew Hoxie, 27, comes to OC Blues after a season with Rochester Rhinos of USL PRO based in Rochester, New York.  Hoxie was drafted 37th overall by San Jose Earthquakes in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, but signed with Rochester Rhinos of the USL in March, 2010. In three years with the Rhinos, Hoxie scored 15 goals and added nine assists.

“I just want to say thanks to my fans in Rochester for all the support you’ve given me. Truly a blessing to meet all of you,” said Hoxie on his previous club, “I’m very excited about the Blues,  I’ve seen them play before and know they have talent. This group of guys has been very welcoming, and it’s nice to have team chemistry,” he added in regards to this recent signing with the Blues.

Stephen Okai, 24, comes to Orange County after spending the 2013 season with the Charlotte Eagles. A native of Accra, Ghana, Okai was drafted by the Philadelphia Union in the second round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft after a 4 year career at the University of Mobile. The defensive midfielder made 24 appearances for Charlotte, playing alongside current teammate William Prado. After scoring in the first match of the 2014 season against LA Galaxy II, Okai was named to the USL PRO Team of the Week.

“Stephen is a player we watched as he played extremely well for the Charlotte Eagles. He brings a calming presence in the midfield. We know he has the qualities to progress his career here at the Blues this season.” said General Manager, Jon Spencer.
