Orange Counties Spar as Blues Visit Lions

IRVINE, CA (June 10, 2014)- The battle of the Orange Counties is finally here. The Blues set-off to their first east coast road-trip of the season as they face Orlando City Soccer Club, in Orange County, Florida  on Wednesday June 11th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, with kickoff at 4:30PM P.S.T.

Orange County (The California squad) heads to Florida after a 4-3 win over the Dayton Dutch Lions, moving them up to 7th place in USL PRO Standings with a total of 15 points and an overall record of 5-7-0. 

The Blues leading goal scorers are Christopher Cortez and Allan Russell, who have both scored four goals each. Cortez scored two goals, Russell scored and defender Joshua Suggs added his first goal of the season against the Dayton Dutch Lions this past Saturday as Orange County celebrated the 2014 World Cup. Orange County’s first three goals, scored by Cortez, Suggs, and Russell, came in the 18th, 19th, and 22nd minutes, a span of four minutes.

Orlando City SC will host the Blues with an undefeated record of  6-1-0 and the top seed in USL PRO standings with 33 points. Orlando’s top players are Kevin Molino, with a total of nine goals, and Dennis Chin, with a total of four goals. 

USL PRO named their “Team of the Week” for Week 12 which included Cortez and Suggs from the Blues, and Orlando’s Brian Span, who scored two goals in the Lions victory over the Montreal Impact Reserves on Saturday night.
