Blues Snap Losing Streak with 1-0 Victory over Rochester Rhinos

Irvine, CA (August 10, 2014)- Orange County Blues finally get a taste of victory after a six game losing streak as they defeated the Rochester Rhinos in a close 1-0 final score on August 10th.

A month-long Blues scoring drought ended when Andrew Hoxie was taken down in the penalty box by Bacabar Diallo in the 41st minute. Allan Russell converted the penalty for the Blues, giving him 7 goals and 4 assists for 18 points on the season. That goal broke a four-game scoreless streak for the Blues.

With this final score, six teams are within five points of each other chasing the final three playoff places. The Blues are now in 8th place of USL PRO standings with a total of 27 points and a record of 9-14-0.

The top eight teams on the table will qualify to the USL PRO playoffs. Stay tuned to see which six teams will join Orlando City and Richmond in 2014.

Next up for Orange County is a midweek contest, as they visit the Charleston Battery on Wednesday. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30PM PST at Blackbaud Stadium in South Carolina.
