IRVINE, CA. (January 12, 2015) – Orange County Blues FC wrapped up day one of the week long invitational training camp, led by newly appointed head coach Oliver Wyss.
The camp opened up with high spirits and nerves. Players arrived bright and early.
Wyss kicked off training with an introductory speech: “Starting the camp in early January, I want to set the standard for what we are expecting.” Wyss mentioned hard work and skill level would be necessary as well; “discipline and commitment [to the Blues] needs to be high.”
Day one of the camp was challenging for a lot of the players. Coaches worked the participants hard and demanded much endurance, especially since many were coming from the offseason.
Returning OC players were not excused from working hard and had to display commitment and desire to be back on the pitch as a Blue.Today, for many, was the first chance to meet Wyss and were elated with the way he and the staff ran the training.
“I like him a lot, Oliver will be a great coach,” said Christopher Santana.
Camp ended early afternoon, with players given directives to recover and be ready for more intense sessions throughout the rest of the week.
