Blues to Face C.D. Atlético Marte in Big Offseason Test

IRVINE, CA (Nov. 15, 2014) – Orange County Blues FC will host an international friendly against a first division team from El Salvador, Club Deportivo Atlético Marte, this Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Santa Ana Stadium in Santa Ana, California.
C.D. Atlético Marte, also known as “Los Maricanos”, is a top team from El Salvador. “Los Maricanos” have won eight Primera Division titles as well as the 1991 CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup.
Sharing their home stadium, Estadio Cuscatlan, with the national team from El Salvador, Atlético Marte will include four national team players in their 18-man roster for Sunday’s game. “La Selecta” players include defender Mario Martinez, defender Marcelo Tejeda, forward Danis Ramirez, and defender Francisco Garcia. 
The game will serve as great preparation for the Blues who expect to field a team which includes many returning players from the 2014 season, along with several potential new signees and trialist. Competing against a top level club from El Salvador will be a steep test for the Blues.
Orange County defender Josh Suggs is excited for the test he and his teammates face against an international foe: “We want to show [fans] that we can compete at the highest level. We also want to show how well we can do, and we hope that fans in attendance will come out to support us in our 2015 season.”
The international friendly is scheduled to kickoff at 4 P.M. P.T with gates opening at 2:30 P.M. Tickets for the match are available for $25 for general admission seating. VIP midfield seats are available for $30. Tickets can be bought day of game at Santa Ana Stadium. 

Community Ticket Locations for OC Blues FC vs Atletico Marte

IRVINE, CA (October 30th, 2014) – Orange County Blues FC is excited to announce that tickets for the international friendly match against C.D. Atletico Marte of El Salvador can be bought at several local community businesses throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County.

Atletico Marte has guaranteed to bring their first team, including El Salvador National Team members Mario Martinez, Marcelo Tejeda, Francisco Garcia, and Danis Ramirez.

General admission tickets bought at these locations cost $22, compared to $25 on the day of the match. Premier VIP seats cost $30 at these locations and on the day of the match.

This will be the first International match for the recently rebranded OC Blues FC, and the club is excited to be playing against a top flight team such as C.D. Marte.

C.D. Marte has won eight Primera Division titles. They also won the CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup in 1991, and were the runners-up in the 1981 CONCACAF Champions League, then called the CONCACAF Champions Cup. The 45,000 seat Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador serves as the home pitch for “Los Maricanos” as well as the El Salvador National team.

C.D. Marte will be coming to Orange County with four El Salvador National Team members on their roster: defender Mario Martinez, defender Marcelo Tejeda, forward Danis Ramirez, and defender Francisco Garcia, who just earned his first call up with the national team for their recent friendlies against Colombia and the Korea Republic.

As the LA Blues, the club has played several international matches. In September 2012, the Blues played Guatemalan side Xelaju M.C. and Mexican heavyweight C.F. Pachuca. Only a month later, the Blues also played the Mexican U-20 National Team.

Este será el primer partido internacional para el OC Blues, recientemente rebautizado OC Blues FC, y el club está contento de enfrentar un equipo de primera división, como el CD Marte.

Siavash Haghnazari Named to Iran U-19 National Team

IRVINE, CA (October 9, 2014) – Orange County Blues FC signing Siavash Haghnazari has been officially named to the Iran U-19 National Team for the 2014 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championship. The top four teams in this tournament, which runs from October 9th-23rd in Myanmar, qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, hosted in New Zealand.

Haghnazari signed with the Blues midway through the 2014 season, but did not make his Blues debut before heading back to Iran to play with the Iran U-19 team ahead of the AFC Championship. Hagnhazari has a total of eight caps already with the Iran National Team, and joined Orange County from the youth academy of Iranian club Persepolis FC.

“Siavash is a signing that we’re really looking forward to for the 2015 season. He’s a midfielder with a tremendous upside, and has a lot to offer on the offensive side of the ball. Although his involvement with the Iranian National team delayed his debut with the Blues, we’re confident that this tournament could yield a breakout performance from him, and we’re excited to see him represent Iran and the Blues on the international stage,” said Jon Spencer, General Manager of OC Blues FC.

The Iran U-19 National Team has been placed in Group A of the AFC U-19 Championship, along with Myanmar, Thailand, and Yemen. Haghnazari came off the bench and played five minutes in Iran’s loss to Thailand today. Iran faces Yemen on Saturday, October 11th and Myanmar on Monday, October 13th to finish out group play. OC Blues FC Announces First Prospective Player Tryouts Ahead of 2015 Season

IRVINE, CA (October 8, 2014) – Orange County Blues FC has announced the first official open tryout for prospective players ahead of the 2015 season.

The tryouts will take place on November 8th and 9th, at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California. On Saturday the 8th, tryouts will run from 8AM-3PM, and on Sunday the 9th, tryouts will run from 8AM-Noon.

Players interested in signing up can visit ocbluesfc.com/www/Tryouts.html for the official registration form, or email ocbluesfctryouts@gmail.com. The registration fee is $150 in advance, or $200 on Saturday, November 8th. Space is limited, so sign up quickly to ensure your spot.

Several players on the 2014 Blues squad were discovered through the open tryouts, including Seung Ju Kim, Christopher Santana, Jiovanni Santana, Seth Moses, and Jacob Barron.

Seung Ju Kim Called Up to South Korea U-19 National Team

IRVINE, CA (October 7, 2014) – Orange County Blues FC midfielder Seung Ju Kim has been officially named to the Korea Republic U-19 National Team for the 2014 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Championship. The top four teams in this tournament, which runs from October 9th-23rd in Myanmar, qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, hosted in New Zealand.

Kim, 18, scored one goal and one assist in 14 appearances in his first professional season with Orange County in 2014. His high energy midfield play was an asset to the squad all season long, and he earned an Honorable Mention on the USL PRO Team of the Week during the week of July 21st-28th.

“Seung Ju played an important role for our team in his debut season as a professional, and you could really see his growth. He definitely showed he has a special talent in the midfield, and will continue to be an impact player for the Blues in 2015. We’re looking forward to seeing him have a successful tournament with the Korean National Team,” said Jon Spencer, General Manager of OC Blues FC.

The Korea U-19 National Team has been placed in Group B of the AFC U-19 Championship, along with Japan, China, and Vietnam. Orange County, CA – As the USL PRO 2014 season prepares for a sellout match between the Sacramento Republic FC and Harrisburg City Islanders. We have compiled highlight videos of some of the memorable moments your OC Blues FC had this season against both clubs.

Sacramento will host the championship match at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT in Bonney Field. The game will also be available online via live-stream through the USL PRO YouTube Channel for those who won’t be able to make the drive.

“It would be great to see the Championship title stay in California with one of our season rivals, the Sacramento Republic FC, but the match will surely be one USL PRO fans will remember and we wish both teams the best of luck” said General Manager Jon Spencer.
